AlertMe.com, is a new, intelligent home security and energy saving service that uses your mobile phone and broadband connection to let you to monitor and control your home 24/7 – wherever you are in the world.
AlertMe Home Security was launched in 2007 as the first application on the AlertMe home platform. The premise of the Home Security offering was to provide a 21st Century Wireless Home Security solution that was simple to use and which put the customer in control.
Unlike conventional alarm systems with their mass of unsightly wires leading to an equally unsightly metal box on the outside of your house, AlertMe Security is completely wireless and looks really good! If there’s a break-in, a fire or another important event in your home, AlertMe immediately sends you and other members of your household a text or email describing exactly what has happened, giving you the power to do something about it - putting you in control. You know a lot more about your home and routine than someone sitting in a monitoring station, so when you receive an alert, you are able to judge what to do - either remotely reset your AlertMe system, or contact the police, a local friend or rugby-playing neighbour, all via your mobile phone or the AlertMe website. Better still, no installer is required as it’s ready straight from the box.
AlertMe Security is so simple to use! The intruder alarm is turned on and off by simply “blipping” a keyfob – just like unlocking your car. And since each keyfob is personal you can check who comes and goes from your home and when. If you’ve left your 18 year old at home on their own while you jet off to Hawaii you can check whether they have returned home safely at curfew time, giving you the peace of mind to enjoy your holiday. It is also very resilient – continuing to protect your home through power cuts and broadband failures, thanks to battery backup and a built-in GPRS modem.
AlertMe uses a low-powered wireless standard called ZigBee which not only allows sensors to communicate wirelessly, but also has the capability to control them as well. This makes the possibilities for AlertMe Home Monitoring endless. AlertMe Energy will be the next step on the platform allowing users to visualise their energy usage in real time and real currency, as well as automating usage optimisation by utlitising information such as who is in the home and when, analysing home temperatures and allowing automatic switch off of appliances. The first Energy product, the AlertMe Smart Plug, will be launched very soon so watch this space!
