AlertMe has partnered with Google PowerMeter to make it really simple for you to view and manage your home’s energy usage and save money on your energy bills. AlertMe Energy is designed to work perfectly with Google PowerMeter, allowing you to view your home’s energy usage directly your iGoogle homepage.
Get Started
To get started with AlertMe Energy and Google PowerMeter follow these steps:
Step 1: Purchase and install AlertMe Energy in your home.
Step 2: Login to the AlertMe online services. Click on the Power Now icon on your AlertMe home page.
Step 3: Select the Google PowerMeter logo under the Meter Reader icon.
Step 4: You’ll now be guided through the enrolment process. First of all you must confirm that you wish to share your AlertMe Energy data with Google PowerMeter and then you’ll be asked to approve the Google PowerMeter terms and conditions.
Step 5: Next you’ll login to your Google account to link Google PowerMeter and your AlertMe Energy data to your existing account. If you don’t have a Google account you can create one here.
Step 6: You will now be directed back to AlertMe to select and enter a name for your Meter Reader to be displayed on Google PowerMeter.
Step 7: AlertMe will now upload your last 7 days data to Google PowerMeter. This may take two or three minutes. Please only click the button once.
Step 8: Once completed, you will see the following screen. You’ll now be prompted to add the Google PowerMeter gadget to your iGoogle page. Click on the link to begin the process which should open your iGoogle page with the Google PowerMeter gadget added. If the gadget does not appear, try waiting a minute or two and refreshing the iGoogle page.
Step 9: Congratulations! You’ll now be able to view your home’s energy usage directly from your iGoogle homepage through Google PowerMeter. AlertMe Energy data is refreshed every 15 minutes and delayed by around half an hour.
Please note: If you wish to stop sharing your data with Google PowerMeter at any time, repeat steps 1 and 2 above, and select the unenroll link.
